In the history section of the Somalia page, it says: "The Darawiish defeated the Italian, British, Abyssinian colonial powers on numerous occasions, most notably, the 1903 victory at Cagaarweyne commanded by Suleiman Aden Galaydh, forcing the British Empire to retreat to the coastal region in the late 1900s. The Dervishes were finally defeated in 1920 by British airpower."
The term "late 1900s" doesn't seem to fit here. I assume it means "early 1900s". Winston508 (talk) 06:54, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
History of the Somali kingdoms, Sultanates
[edit]How come there was zero mention of the Warsangeli sultanates?. They are one of the longest kingdoms in somalia, behind ajuuran. They ruled b/w 1218 to 1886AD. These sultanates were probably one of the most well known in Somali history yet zero mention. This alone makes me question the credibility of the research done to compile this. Arab colonisation
[edit]Somalia's colonial history is seriously incomplete here. The first colonization that Somalia underwent was the Arab one. In fact, the first colonizers of East Africa were some Shiite refugees from Oman in the 8th century, followed in the 9th century by Orthodox Sunnis from Shiraz, on the Persian shore of the same gulf. 91.80.67.32 (talk) 04:05, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
Excessive list of past kingdoms in infobox
[edit]The infobox of this page lists various Somali kingdoms, but none are legal predecessor of the current state. Some of the kingdoms even existed simultaneously.
Perhaps starting with independence of Somalia would be more appropriate, much like India, Iraq and Malaysia. That would also make navigating the page easier. OwlCityzen (talk) 11:21, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
