comparison of current?

[edit]

I miss comparison of consoles currently on sale from player's point of view.

Valve Steam Deck

[edit]

Should the steam deck be included in this article? Does it count as a gaming console? NowInHD (talk) 17:32, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is a handheld computer system. In particular it is far from being a closed platform compared to consoles. --Masem (t) 17:39, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Article clearly states "Video game consoles are a specialized form of a home computer geared towards video game playing" and Steam Deck is very clearly geared towards video game playing. Where in the Video Game Console definition is it stated, that it has to be a closed platform to count as one? Ashirviskas (talk) 19:44, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The completly open nature of the Steam Deck makes it a "Personal Computer" (AKA a PC) + """ SYSTEM """ ( Meaning everything needed to make it funtion is incuded. )
Microsoft is the only one to call the there ""Video game system"" a console.
A Console is nothing more than an interface to a computer system ( keyboard, mouse, controller, pen, ....) 24.168.43.223 (talk) 19:50, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
